The Pirate Bay Moves to .GL Domain in Anticipation of Domain Seizure | TorrentFreak

The Pirate Bay has received indications that the Swedish authorities might soon attempt to seize the site’s .se domain. In anticipation of this move, today the world’s largest file-sharing site switched to Greenland’s .gl domain. The move comes with a set of new IP-addresses which raises the possibility that existing ISP blockades might be bypassed, at least temporarily.

Bitcoin-Mining malware spreads through Skype

Cyber thieves have never done anything else than stealing, but they are getting more creative. A new phenomenon within the cybercrime world is a special kind of malware that spreads through Skype, and tells your computer to mine Bitcoin. Not extremely harmful for the victim, except for the energy bill that will be considerably higher when his computer has been mining Bitcoin without him knowing.

It was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Mining pools are simple distributed computing networks, and only require you GPU to calculate a hash, and send it somewhere.

Stealing computing power

It’s interesting to think about other possibilities, so we can know what to look out for. Since mining Bitcoin is a simple action to take for any computer, it doesn’t take much to tell a computer to do so. Imagine a webpage with a collection of funny pictures, you can spend hours on such a page. If that page contains a piece of code that does the same thing as this Mining-Malware, it could potentially (with a few thousands of visitors and a few months) mine a new block.

Having your computing power stolen is of course less of a problem than having your Bitcoin stolen, however, we have to take reasonability. When everybody makes the same mistake, one cracker can steal a lot of Bitcoin, which will do no good for the Bitcoin economy.

Why Bitcoin Is Poised To Change Society Much More Than The Internet Did – Falkvinge on Infopolicy

Why Bitcoin Is Poised To Change Society Much More Than The Internet Did – Falkvinge on Infopolicy.

There is a bitcoin craze at the moment, with prices of bitcoin skyrocketing. Bitcoin is still far from ready for prime time, but as it matures, it will change society’s fundamental operations much more than the Internet did. The net, after all, only allowed people to talk and shop more efficiently. By comparison, bitcoin eradicates the government’s ability to operate.

New Greek party wants the drachma back, like that helps

A young party in Grease wants the old coin back, the drachma. Old-timer politician Alekos Alvanos released the news about the new political party ‘Plan B’ on Thursday.

Plan B

More like plan F through M, the Greek are still under the illusion that the European cooperation is the sole reason for their economic malaise. Alvanos says that Grease has made cuts under influence of the EU that has done irreparable damage. This, together with the tendentious name ‘Plan B’ is a clear sign of ‘head-in-sand-politics’.

Maybe they should accept that within the system that has destroyed this country that has created modern science, democracy and some of the most influential art is all still plan A, and that going back a step cannot possibly be seen as a Plan B.

I think the Bitcoin community is in agreement about the fact that there is a real plan B, stop listening to bankers, great a-democratic political institutes and start over, better.

As long as they don’t, we can certainly be happy about our own plan B, plan Bitcoin.
